Samuel
Hahnemann's philosophy of classical homeopathy is the blueprint for
practicing this remarkable effective healing art. It is the philosophy
that guides the practitioner through every step and each possible
situation that may arise in clinical practice. Without the philosophy,
one would be using homeopathic remedies in an allopathic way. The ICH
provides a solid foundation in the eight principles as elucidated by
Samuel Hahnemann in his Organon of Medicine. It is impossible to obtain
the full curative results of this healing system if you do not thoroughly
understand and fully practice the philosophy behind it. Therefore, years
one and two of the program are spent in homeopathic immersion, learning
and understanding the principles thoroughly and completely. Then with clinical
work during years three and four, homoeopathic theory is put into
practice.
Concurrently, students learn Materia Medica and
Repertory, which along with the Organon, are the three essential tools of
a classical homeopath. Materia Medica is taught from the perspective that
each remedy has a grouping of characteristic symptoms which forms a
totality and must match the characteristic symptom totality of the
client. This method of understanding remedies breaks through the
stereotype of remedy essences, and covers the true depth and breadth of
each remedy. Comparison of remedies and relationships of remedies are
uniquely taught at the ICH.
Students need extra time to learn and absorb the Repertory as well as to
ask questions about their studies, beyond the time available in the
monthly weekend classes. The tutorials are offered in a more informal,
interactive environment, in which the students form close alliances with
their future colleagues. This is also the main arena for learning to
analyze and work out acute cases.
The beauty of Hahnemann's profound healing system lies also in it's
simplicity and purity. The classical sources are well proven and based on
scientific facts as well as extensive clinical data. Using classical
sources is the most reliable path to obtaining the full extent of
curative results possible with homeopathy.
It takes time for understanding to develop, and this is a very profound
subject. The study of homeopathy involves training the mind to think
homeopathically and deeply about all subject material. Extensive clinical
experience and close supervision allows for individual attention and
development for each student. Clear practical case taking and case
analysis methodology is taught with reproducible results. Upon graduation
students will already have the beginnings of their own clinical
practices. The ICH provides on-going support, supervision, and continuing
education for graduates. Homeopathy will become a life-long study for
those who are truly devoted to this brilliant and highly-effective
system.
