Individuals of all ages and backgrounds, and from different parts of the United States and abroad, come to study at the ICH. Classes are a mixture of students with and without medical or homoeopathic knowledge. Some students come from conventional medical or alternative/complementary medical fields. Others have completed or transferred from other homoeopathic training programs to learn the philosophical foundation and classical analysis missed in their previous training.
All students have in common a sincere desire to learn and a commitment to benefit others through the practice of good, classical Hahnemannian homoeopathy. ICH students work as a team, sharing the skills and perceptions of their varied backgrounds, and exploring the breadth of the material presented.
Students are admitted to the ICH on the basis of a written
application, references, and a personal interview. Personal
qualities required include a methodical and enthusiastic approach
to study, a receptivity to new ways of thinking, an open mind,
and compassionate motivation. Since the course is college-level
study, at least two years of college is preferable. Applicants
must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, and be
able to demonstrate an appropriate degree of maturity, as
well as the ability to apply themselves. As of August 30th, there
are still openings for the Fall 2006 class. However, admission is limited;
applications should therefore be submitted as soon as possible. Late
applications will be considered as space permits. Prospective
students are encouraged to sit in on a class by prior arrangement.
Transfer students wishing to enter the program after the start
date must complete specific written and reading assignments
and pass an entrance examination.
The ICH is a non-profit organization
serving the public, and therefore endeavors to keep fees affordable.
Fees are payable in advance on an annual, semi-annual or term
basis. Fees paid on a semi-annual or term basis are charged
at a slightly higher rate. The ICH reserves the right to increase
fees, with prior BPPVE approval, prior to the beginning of the academic
year.
Currently, tuition is $4,200 per year
for homoeopathy courses. There are two medical science classes
required for graduation. The ICH offers these classes for
an additional $400 per class. Seminar fees are separate from
ICH tuition and are payable prior to each seminar. Students
receive a discount on all ICH seminars.
Some students have been able to obtain tuition grants from
private foundations and individual sponsors. Once a student
is accepted to the ICH, the Institute will give active support
to any prospective students undertaking grant applications.
The ICH admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic
origin, gender, or sexual orientation, to all the rights,
privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or
made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate
on the basis of the administration of its educational policies,
admission policies, scholarship programs, and other school-administered
programs.
The school reserves the right
to alter, with prior BPPVE approval, elements of the program including
content, hours, duration, graduation criteria, facilities,
location and fees, where necessary in the best interests of
the Institute, students, or homoeopathy in general.
